Following Dalmaji Street away from Haeundae Beach,
one can find wide and clean Songjeong Beach. This beach is made from
quality sand and weathered seashells, delivering a scene of a sandy beach which seems like
spreading small beads. Songjeong Beach opened July 1965 and is open
each year from July 1st to August 31st. The beach is 2 km long and is up to 50 meters wide in some
places. Local people enjoy it as a resort area in the city.
In summer visitors can enjoy motor boating and taking cruise ships. However, is not not yet as
commercialized as Haeundae or Gwangalli Beach,
and does not have the same level of convenience facilities. The water is cool and loyal visitors
come here every summer. The area is also populr among new couples who come here to have outdoor
wedding pictures taken. At first, only private homes were developed. Now the area has many motels
and hotels. It is also famous for fresh raw fish and fishing ares, luxurious restaurants, general
restaurants, and bars.
